Study of the phenomenon of under-reporting of accidents at work in Europe
In this study, EUROGIP examines the phenomenon of under-reporting of accidents at work in Europe using three statistical methods: comparative, fatality matching and survey data.
The research approach undertaken has made it possible, in line with previous studies carried out by the BSN and by Eurostat, to confirm the existence of such a phenomenon. The actual level at European level is difficult to quantify very precisely. However, it is estimated that between 13% and 35% of accidents at work that occurred in 2013 were not reported to the competent authorities in the field of paid employment.
