{"id":22943,"date":"2014-10-27T09:59:20","date_gmt":"2014-10-27T08:59:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/new-database-on-chemicals-in-the-workplace\/"},"modified":"2014-10-27T09:59:20","modified_gmt":"2014-10-27T08:59:20","slug":"new-database-on-chemicals-in-the-workplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/en\/new-database-on-chemicals-in-the-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"New database on chemicals in the workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etui.org\/Topics\/Health-Safety\/Chemicals-and-REACH\/RISCTOX-database\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RISCTOX<\/a> website, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etui.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ETUI<\/a> provides a database consisting of data cards covering more than 100,000 chemical substances. <\/p>\n<p>Each card specifies the chemical&#8217;s classification and labelling under the regulations, its main work uses (solvent, cleaner, paint stripper, etc.), how it affects health, and the occupational diseases it causes.<br \/>Of the 100,000 or so chemicals listed, the trade unions have identified nearly 570 as substances of very high concern (SVHC) for putting on their list of priority substances. These are chemicals commonly used in many workplaces that, according to the ETUI, need priority treatment under REACH, the regulation governing the marketing and use of chemicals in the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>The database, available only in English, was produced in cooperation with the Spanish Trade Union Institute <a href=\"http:\/\/www.istas.net\/web\/portada.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ISTAS<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On its RISCTOX website, the ETUI provides a database consisting of data cards covering more than 100,000 chemical substances.
