The contracts of the “New Approach<\/a>” consultants, which had been suspended for many months, were at last signed by the Commission and CEN-CENELEC for a period up to the end of 2017.<\/p>\n

The “New Approach” consultants are responsible for assessing the harmonized European standards before they are published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). If you comply with a harmonized standard, you can assume that you are in conformity with the safety requirements of the directive covered by that standard. Hence the importance of the consultants’ work.<\/p>\n

A list of titles and references of Harmonized Standards for the Machinery Directive will be published in the OJEU by the end of 2015. Those standards that have not been assessed by a consultant will be examined on a case-by-case basis by the Commission, which will choose those for which it will demand a specific assessment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
