{"id":23133,"date":"2016-11-02T18:37:00","date_gmt":"2016-11-02T17:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/denmark-a-new-organization-for-the-compensation-of-work-related-casualties\/"},"modified":"2016-11-02T18:37:00","modified_gmt":"2016-11-02T17:37:00","slug":"denmark-a-new-organization-for-the-compensation-of-work-related-casualties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/en\/denmark-a-new-organization-for-the-compensation-of-work-related-casualties\/","title":{"rendered":"DENMARK: A new organization for the compensation of work-related casualties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since 1 July 2016, the National Board of Industrial Injuries (<em>Arbejdsskadestyrelsen<\/em>) has been replaced by the Labour Market Insurance Organization (<em>Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssikring, AES<\/em>), which performs the same roles, but is also in charge of compensation for the victims of occupational diseases and for collecting employers&#8217; contributions.<\/p>\n<p> The AES in fact arose from the merger of the National Board with a part of the former Labour Market Occupational Disease Insurance Fund (<em>Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssygdomssikring)<\/em>. Its main role is to take impartial and fair decisions in accordance with the legislation on the compensation of victims of work-related injuries and diseases. Each year, it handles about 60,000 claims for compensation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> When the injury or disease is liable to recognition of its work-related nature, it is also up to the AES to decide whether the victim is entitled to compensation, and the type and amount of compensation to be awarded. The compensation is paid either by the employer&#8217;s insurance company or by the AES.
