It takes stock of ways to deal with the decline in the working population while strengthening social protection systems. Several German social insurance organisations (DRV Bund, DGUV, GKV-Spitzenverband) are taking a <a href=\"https:\/\/dsv-europa.de\/lib\/20200824_DSV-Stellungnahme_demografischer-Wandel_final_EN.pdf\">position<\/a> on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>Life expectancy is increasing. In addition, movements of population groups are defining the requirements for the development of future-oriented social security systems in Europe. The concepts of work, health care and financing have to be adapted continuously.<\/p>\n<p>Ensuring a safe and healthy working life is just as necessary as preventing the precariousness of older people due to incomplete working careers or economic gender disparities. At the same time, the development of care infrastructure, including long-term care, must take into account the changing needs arising from different forms of demographic change.
