ClimApp is a mobile application that takes into account extreme temperatures, hot or cold, as well as individual data and provides users with tips to protect themselves and prevent health risks.<\/p>\n

The application is the result of an EU-funded project developed by researchers from three countries: Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. Users enter information on their weight, age, gender, the clothes they wear and their level of activity. They can specify whether they take breaks, light, medium, heavy or intensive work. The application is automatically linked to local weather information. It then issues warnings about the amount of clothing to wear in case of extreme cold for example. If it is hot, ClimApp can predict the level of heat stress and the amount of water the person should drink. In any case, it indicates how long it is possible to work in these conditions. The application also works indoors.<\/p>\n

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), more than half of the world’s workforce works outdoors. Climate change and warming are increasing the risk of extreme weather events, which will have a major impact on working conditions.<\/p>\n

The application has been recognized by the World Meteorological Organization, an agency of the United Nations. Researchers at Lund University in Sweden who contributed to the project are now looking for people who want to get involved and test the application in outdoor work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
