After more than ten years of work, the new series of standards EN 474 provides the construction industry with up-to-date documents concerning the safety of earthmoving machinery.<\/p>\n

The series comprises 13 parts:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. common requirements applicable to at least two<\/li>\n
  2. types of machinery<\/li>\n
  3. bulldozers<\/li>\n
  4. loaders<\/li>\n
  5. backhoe loaders<\/li>\n
  6. hydraulic excavators<\/li>\n
  7. dumpers<\/li>\n
  8. scrapers<\/li>\n
  9. graders<\/li>\n
  10. pipe layers<\/li>\n
  11. trenchers<\/li>\n
  12. backfill and waste compactors<\/li>\n
  13. cable excavators<\/li>\n
  14. compactors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These documents give a presumption of conformity with the Machinery Directive 2006\/42\/EC provided that their reference is quoted in the Official Journal of the European Union. Taking into account automated machines or machines powered by non-fossil fuel sources will certainly be the challenge for future revisions.<\/p>\n
