Since 2 August, all Member States have to implement the 2019 directive on work-life balance for parents and carers.<\/p>\n

The new rules<\/span><\/a> set minimum standards for paternity, parental and carer leave. They also establish additional rights, such as the right to request flexible working arrangements, which will help people to pursue their career and family life without having to sacrifice either. These rights, which are additional to existing maternity leave rights, were secured as part of the European Pillar of Social Rights<\/a><\/span>, and their \u201cintroduction is a key step towards building an Equality Union\u201d.<\/p>\n
