The Covid-19 pandemic has had a strong influence on the occupational injury rate in 2020, 2021 and early 2022. Indeed, it is difficult to compare the data with previous years. But some factors – containment, lower road traffic, massive use of platform workers or slow recovery of activities – have had the side effect of reducing exposure to the risk of \u201ctraditional\u201d injuries, including commuting accidents.<\/p>\n

Thus, there is a decrease in overall accidents in 2020 compared to 2019, but an increase in fatal accidents due to Covid-19, in particular because of the high lethality of the first variants. Note that in Italy, work-related cases are recognised as accidents at work. In 2021, there is a significant decrease in occupational contagions (including fatal ones) and a recovery of traditional accidents linked to the gradual resumption of activities in many sectors and the return, albeit partial, to the workplace. But already in the first four months of 2022, reports of Covid-19 infection have exceeded those for the whole of 2021.<\/p>\n
