{"id":30876,"date":"2022-11-30T11:17:58","date_gmt":"2022-11-30T10:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/towards-a-new-recommendation-on-occupational-diseases-incorporating-covid-19\/"},"modified":"2022-12-15T12:23:55","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T11:23:55","slug":"towards-a-new-recommendation-on-occupational-diseases-incorporating-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/en\/towards-a-new-recommendation-on-occupational-diseases-incorporating-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"A new Recommendation on occupational diseases incorporating Covid-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In order to encourage a consistent approach across the EU, the Commission is now proposing an <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=CELEX:32022H2337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">update of the Recommendation<\/span><\/a> on the European Schedule of Occupational Diseases to include Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2022, the Advisory Committee on Safety and Health at Work (ACSH) reached a tripartite agreement on the need to recognise Covid-19 as an occupational disease. Updating the 2003 Recommendation was also listed as part of the implementation of the EU Strategic Framework for Health and Safety at Work 2021-2027.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission recommends that Member States recognise Covid-19 as an occupational disease for workers particularly concerned: health and social care, home help or where there is a proven risk of infection (during a pandemic) in other sectors. It also stresses the importance of supporting workers infected with Covid-19 at work and families facing the death of the worker.<\/p>\n<p>Today, most Member States already recognise Covid-19 as an occupational disease or an accident at work (see <a href=\"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Focus-Eurogip-Recognition-of-Covid-19-as-an-occupational-injury.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">EUROGIP Focus<\/span><\/a>).
