The employer refused and the case was referred to the CJEU.<\/p>\n<p>Under Directive 90\/270\/EEC on the minimum safety and health requirements for work with display screen equipment, the Court ruled in December 2022 that :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cSpecial corrective devices\u201d include eyeglasses specifically intended to correct and prevent visual disorders in connection with work involving display screen equipment and are not limited to devices used exclusively in the occupational context.<\/li>\n<li>The employer&#8217;s obligation to provide the workers concerned with a special corrective device may be satisfied either by the direct provision of the device by the employer or by the reimbursement of the necessary expenses incurred by the worker, but not by the payment of a general wage premium to the worker.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/curia.europa.eu\/juris\/document\/document.jsf?mode=DOC&amp;pageIndex=0&amp;docid=268793&amp;part=1&amp;doclang=EN&amp;text=&amp;dir=&amp;occ=first&amp;cid=23004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CJEU ruling of 22 December 2022<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a December 2022 ruling, the CJEU held that companies must pay for glasses for employees who work with display screens to prevent or correct visual impairment under Directive 90\/270 of 29 May 1990.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":31116,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[907],"class_list":["post-31111","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-community-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>CJEU: employer must contribute to employees&#039;
