According to the provisional data it has just published, INAIL observes between January and December 2022 a 25.7% increase in the number of accident reports (697,773) linked to Covid-19, \u201cclassic\u201d and commuting accidents, compared to the same period in 2021. The number of fatal accidents is decreasing, despite an increase in commuting fatalities, compared to 2021.<\/p>\n
Accidents at work are on the rise in almost all sectors of activity, starting with health and social work (+113.1%), transport and storage (+79.3%), accommodation and food services (+55.2%) and public administration, which includes the activities of health care organisations – Asl – and regional, provincial and municipal administrators (+54.8%). Women are very much affected (+42.9%), with the increase in 2022 compared to 2021 largely influenced by occupational accidents caused by Covid-19. The Covid effect also emerges from the analysis of fatal cases, i.e. 1,090 in 2022, compared to 1,221 in 2021, 1,270 in 2020 and 1,089 in 2019.<\/p>\n
Concerning occupational diseases, the data recorded as of 31 December 2022 show 60,774 reported cases, down 0.9% compared to the January-December 2019 period (61,310). Between the two periods studied, there was a decrease in particular in diseases of the respiratory system (1,209 fewer reported diseases), tumours (-828) and the ear (-441). Diseases of the osteoarticular system and connective tissue, those of the nervous system and of the ear continue to represent, in 2022 as in 2019, the three leading occupational diseases reported, followed by cancers and diseases of the respiratory system.<\/p>\n
