The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) warns about the impact of technological developments on occupational safety and health (OSH). Through three new publications, it sheds light on the issues related to sustainable mobility, electromagnetic fields and eco-anxiety, while proposing solutions.<\/p>\n

With the transition to renewable energy in transport, new technologies are being introduced, including zero-emission fuels in the road, rail, maritime and air sectors. However, these innovations also involve increased risks for workers, such as burns, electrocution or heat stress. The report by EU-OSHA<\/u><\/a> highlights these dangers and makes recommendations for better consideration of the health and safety of operators, technicians and emergency workers.<\/p>\n

In a second report,<\/u><\/a> EU-OSHA looks at electromagnetic fields (EMFs) due to the rise of modern technologies, particularly in wireless communications and medical applications. The lack of understanding of safe exposure levels represents a risk to workers’ health. The Agency calls for regular updating of regulations and increased research to better regulate these exposures and ensure the protection of workers.<\/p>\n

Finally, in the face of the environmental crisis, EU-OSHA indicates in this 3rd report<\/u> that<\/a> an increasing number of workers suffer from eco-anxiety, a psychological distress linked to the effects of climate change. This phenomenon can have negative repercussions on their mental well-being and their productivity.<\/p>\n
