{"id":35108,"date":"2025-11-21T12:43:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T11:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/?p=35108"},"modified":"2025-11-21T12:43:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T11:43:08","slug":"spain-2026-declared-year-of-safety-and-health-at-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/en\/spain-2026-declared-year-of-safety-and-health-at-work\/","title":{"rendered":"SPAIN: 2026 declared \u201cYear of safety and health at work\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 11th November 2025, on the thirtieth anniversary of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/eli\/es\/l\/1995\/11\/08\/31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Law 31\/1995 on the prevention of occupational risks<\/a><\/span>, the Spanish government announced that 2026 will be the year of occupational safety and health.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Tackling \u201c<i>a silent epidemic<\/i>\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>In a recent <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/prensa.mites.gob.es\/webPrensa\/listado-noticia\/noticia\/4485\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release formalizing this announcement<\/a><\/span>, the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy refers to \u201c<i>still unacceptable figures<\/i>\u201d for the year <b>2024, when 796 people died at work or while commuting. While the world of work is changing rapidly, economic growth should not be synonymous with an increase in workplace accidents.<\/b> For the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, it is therefore necessary to make progress in managing certain key challenges such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the increase in psychosocial risks;<\/li>\n<li>the lack of effective equality between men and women;<\/li>\n<li>occupational diseases;<\/li>\n<li>the aging of the working population;<\/li>\n<li>the impacts of climate change.<br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>A strengthened national and European strategic framework<\/h2>\n<p>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eurogip.fr\/en\/spain-a-new-strategy-for-occupational-safety-and-health-2023-2027\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish Strategy for Safety and Health at Work 2023-2027 (EESST)<\/a><\/span> is the national roadmap for the prevention of occupational risks. Approved in March 2023, it is in line with the priorities of the <a href=\"https:\/\/osha.europa.eu\/fr\/safety-and-health-legislation\/eu-strategic-framework-health-and-safety-work-2021-2027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>European Strategic Framework for Safety and Health at Work 2021-2027<\/u><\/a>, particularly with regard to <b>anticipating the risks associated with the digital, ecological, and demographic transitions.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>With this announcement, the government reaffirms that:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Safety and health at work are a fundamental right and a shared responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Regulatory adaptation of prevention measures to emerging risks will continue to be encouraged.<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing awareness-raising and information campaigns will be implemented.<\/li>\n<li>Research, innovation, and knowledge transfer will be strengthened.<\/li>\n<li>A policy of national and international cooperation on prevention will be promoted.<\/li>\n<li>Educational activities tailored to each teaching environment will be promoted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/prensa.mites.gob.es\/webPrensa\/listado-noticia\/noticia\/4485\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Find out more<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the thirtieth anniversary of Law 31\/1995 on the prevention of occupational risks, the Spanish government announced that 2026 will be the year of occupational safety and health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":36,"featured_media":31268,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[909],"class_list":["post-35108","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-abroad"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
