EUROGIP has published a new study entitled “Accidents at work statistics in Europe \u2013 limits of comparability.<\/a><\/span>“<\/strong> (French)<\/p>\n

\n

To assess accident rates, it has become common practice to compare statistics between European countries. However,\u00a0an informed reading requires knowledge of what each country includes in these<\/b>\u00a0statistics<\/strong>: which worker populations are covered? Which events are counted? According to which rules are they reported or recognized? Which data are published?<\/p>\n

In this new study, EUROGIP\u00a0explores workplace accident statistics from six countries\u00a0<\/b>(Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, and Luxembourg) identified as relatively comparable within the European Union. The quality of the data and the availability of methodological information allow for an in-depth analysis of these statistics.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Using national sources, this study examines\u00a0the evolution of the number<\/b>\u00a0of workplace accidents, identifies\u00a0the most accident-prone sectors of activity<\/b>, analyzes\u00a0the criteria for severity<\/b>, and focuses on\u00a0fatal workplace accidents<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Beyond trends, the study highlights\u00a0the impact of structural parameters that effectively limit comparisons between countries<\/b>: underreporting, recognition processes, and the role of \u201cmedical conditions\u201d (heart attacks, strokes) in workplace mortality are all factors that must be taken into account when analyzing comparative statistics.<\/p>\n

This study provides a\u00a0better<\/b>\u00a0understanding of statistics\u00a0<\/b>on workplace accidents, enabling an\u00a0informed reading of European comparisons,\u00a0<\/b>as proposed by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
