Cyberbullying at work takes various forms: exclusion from a discussion group, inappropriate remarks during a videoconference, an injunction to be permanently available online… Faced with the scale of this problem, Eurofound devotes the final episode of its 2024 podcast series to ways of combating this growing phenomenon.
Entitled “How we can effectively tackle cyberbullying at work?”, this episode reveals the professions most affected (journalism, the medical sector…) as well as the most vulnerable people, such as young people and women. It also highlights the psychological impact on victims and the repercussions on their productivity.
We note that this form of intimidation, carried out using digital technologies, is a phenomenon that is increasingly denounced in the professional sphere, and is more widespread than one might think. As a result, there are a number of laws and rules applicable in the workplace to combat such behavior. This is the purpose of Convention 190 of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the first international treaty to recognize everyone’s right to a world of work free from violence and harassment.
