In 2004, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) produced a series of management standards to reduce work-related psychosocial risks, in cooperation with the social partners. Based on this, the British Standards Institute (BSI) is currently developing three new standards:

  • PAS 1010: Guidance on the management of psychosocial risks in the workplace
  • PAS 1011 : Management competencies and standards
  • PAS 1012 : Resilience, well-being and return to work

The standards are described in Publicly Available Specifications (PAS). They are developed in accordance with a “fast track” procedure and comply with BSI guidelines. After two years, the PAS standards will be examined to determine whether they can become official British Standards.
In 2011, the BSI had worked out an initial series of new national standards for the prevention of work-related psychosocial risks in cooperation with the HSE and the Nottingham University-based Psychosocial Risk Management Excellence Framework Consortium (PRIMA-EF).
The present work focuses especially on high-risk groups and sectors and on gender issues. It also assigns great importance to the search for solutions to allow the standards to be applied in various types of enterprises, such as SMEs.

BELGIUM: Case law on PSR since 2016

The Federal Public Service (FPS) Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue has compiled a collection of case law on psychosocial risks at work (PSR) from the labour courts from 2016 to 2023. The first collection covered the period from 2003 to 2010.
