The European Commission has confirmed the withdrawal from the European market of four machines due to their failure to comply with certain essential requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The machines are an angle grinder made in Belgium, a jig saw made in China and two cutting-off machines made in Sweden.

These machines had the following defects:

  • Grinder: risk of failure in service, the machines’ marking and the content of the instruction manual;
  • Jig saw: risk of failure in service, risks due to surfaces, edges or angles, and requirements relating to guards and protective devices;
  • Cutting-off machines: failure to comply with the principles of allowance for safety and risks related to moving parts.
