Created in 1994, before Austria’s accession to the European Union, the AUVAsicher programme provides companies with up to 50 employees with free access to the legally required occupational health and safety care. In 20 years, it has contributed to reducing workplace accidents by a third.

Today, the world of work continues to evolve and the motto is often: “higher, faster, further, further, more…”. Mental illnesses are on the rise; one third of such diagnoses result in a disability pension. Renate Anderl, President of the Chamber of Labour, and Bernhard Achitz, Principal Secretary of the Austrian Trade Union Confederation (ÖGB), agree: “More and more employees are no longer able to cope with excessive demands. In addition to occupational health and safety care, AUVAsicher should also offer psychological care.
