Covid-19 and OSH: an ETUC briefing note

On 15 April, ETUC published “Covid-19 Watch” about occupational safety and health (OSH) in several European countries.

In the framework of the enquiry to the ETUC member organisations, ETUC have received reports about a series of problems relating to the health and safety of workers due to the COVID-19 outbreak, such as lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the health sector, non-appliance of social distancing in the construction and retail sector and derogations to health and safety rules in the transport sector.

ETUC has also witnessed that social dialogue can play an effective role in identifying a range of measures at both national level and workplace level. We detail examples below that were adopted either as a result of social dialogue or governmental action.

BELGIUM: Case law on PSR since 2016

The Federal Public Service (FPS) Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue has compiled a collection of case law on psychosocial risks at work (PSR) from the labour courts from 2016 to 2023. The first collection covered the period from 2003 to 2010.
