Eurofound, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, has published a report on the legal and company provisions on the right to disconnect in EU Member States.

The rise of teleworking and more flexible working patterns, accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic, has “exacerbated concerns about an always-on culture” and employees’ constant connection to their workplace, leading them to work additional and often unpaid hours. One of the solutions proposed to address this is the introduction of a right to disconnect.

This Eurofound report is based on a survey of HR managers and employees. In addition to the right to disconnect, it assesses the impact of company policies in this area on employees’ connection times, working hours, work-life balance, health and well-being, and overall job satisfaction.
