As part of the implementation of Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, which includes requirements relating to cybersecurity and systems incorporating artificial intelligence (AI), the mechanical engineering standards association (Union de Normalisation de la Mécanique) has just published two practical guides designed to support industrial players.
Safety of machines and AI guide
This first guide, to which EUROGIP contributed, addresses the notion of AI in industrial machines: it clarifies the definition of self-evolving AI, details its uses, its limits, as well as its safety implications. Designed as a roadmap, it makes it easier to understand and apply the new regulatory requirements.
Cybersecurity of machinery guide
The second guide deals with the cybersecurity of machines, a subject now also included in European regulations. It proposes a practical method for assessing the risks associated with the increasing connectivity of equipment, and for preparing for future requirements. The guide also includes a regulatory watch, as well as a list of the main standards and current projects, to support companies in the development of their products.
Given that Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 will come into force in January 2027, these two documents, to which experts from the Branche AT/MP have contributed, are essential tools for anticipating new regulatory obligations.
