What is the European Forum?

The European Forum for Occupational Protection (or European Forum of the Insurance against Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases) is an association bringing together occupational health and safety organisations from around twenty European countries. The aim of this forum is to enable different Member States to share their experiences and best practices in the field of prevention and insurance against accidents at work and occupational diseases, with a view to improving the protection of European workers.

Throughout the year, Forum members work remotely within five working groups: Legislation, Occupational Diseases, Communication, Prevention and Digitalisation. Once a year, they meet in a member country, which then holds the Forum’s presidency.

The French presidency in 2027: Save the date!

The Forum’s presidency is held in turn by the member countries. The country holding the presidency is responsible for organising, on its territory, the working group meetings, the Forum’s General Assembly and the annual conference, which is traditionally open to the host country’s network.

Following Luxembourg in 2025 and Poland in 2026, it is France’s turn to hold the Forum’s presidency, a role it previously held in 1993 and 2009.

Held in Paris on 3 June 2027, the Forum’s European conference will focus on the theme: ‘Workplace accidents: protecting vulnerable workers’. Topics to be covered include:

• Young people: raising awareness early to build lasting safety habits
• New arrivals: supporting onboarding to reduce workplace accidents
• Temporary workers: ensuring effective safety in host companies
• Senior workers: combining expertise with protection against serious accidents
