New provisions regarding employers’ reporting of workplace accidents are taking effect.
Previously in Denmark, an employer was required to report a workplace accident if it resulted in the injured person being absent from their usual job beyond the day of the accident.
Since the 1st July 2026, the reporting requirement now applies only if the absence lasts at least three days following the day of the injury.
In fact, Act No. 1626 of December 16, 2025, amending the Act on Workers’ Compensation Insurance, which took effect th 1st July 2026, now stipulates that the employer is only required to report the workplace accident if it “has resulted in at least 3 days of absence from the victim’s usual work, in addition to the day of the accident.” (Article 31(1))
However, accidents that may entitle the victim to compensation or other benefits must still be reported, and the reporting deadline remains 14 days.
