The “Discussions d’EUROGIP” – Episode 3 – Platform workers: The ETUC point of view on the new Directive

The 3rd episode of the “Discussions d’EUROGIP” series is devoted to platform workers and more specifically to the new European Directive (EU) 2024/2831 of 23 October 2024 aimed at improving their working conditions.

It gives the floor to Tea Jarc, Confederal Secretary at the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).

After a presentation of some figures concerning platforms and platform workers in the EU, Tea gave more information about the profile of platform workers. She then answered our questions about:

  • The need of a European Directive
  • What the directive (EU) 2024/2831 will change
  • What are the challenges ahead with transposition and implementation of the Directive, with an group of experts.

Furthermore, Tea announced the idea to have a new specific directive on algorithmic management which covers all workers, not just platform ones.
