Episode 3 of EUROGIP Discussions takes stock of the Platform work Directive

Home > The news of EUROGIP and occupational risks in Europe > Episode 3 of EUROGIP Discussions takes stock of the Platform work Directive

Episode 3 of our EUROGIP Discussions series is devoted to platform workers and the new directive published in October 2024, aimed at improving their working conditions. An essential topic, given that there are some 28.3 million of them in the EU today, with few rights and management largely automated by algorithms.

Tea Jarc, Confederal Secretary at the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) takes stock of the situation. The video (11′) is structured around these main themes:

  • some key figures on platforms and platform workers in the EU,
the profile of the workers concerned,
  • the importance of adopting a specific European directive,
  • the changes to be brought about by Directive (EU) 2024/2831,
  • the challenges linked to its transposition and implementation,
  • the plan to adopt a broader regulation on algorithmic management, covering all workers and not just those on platforms.
