On June 3, 2025, the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) and its 15 partners from all over Europe officially launched the “InGoodShape” project. Co-financed by the European Union for a two-year period, this project aims to improve occupational health and safety (OHS) in European social services.

Indeed, almost every country in the European Union is facing staff shortages, high turnover or growing demand for care services. At the same time, the sector is struggling to recruit, with direct consequences for the health and safety of working professionals: musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to physical compensation for staff shortages, psychosocial risks (PSRs) due to work overload, etc.

The aim of this project is to establish the link between quality of life at work, quality of care for users and the attractiveness of the sector. It is part of the European Care Strategy, presented by the European Commission in September 2022, which aims to improve working conditions in social services.
