After three days of marathon negotiations, the Council Presidency and European Parliament negotiators reached a provisional agreement on the proposed regulation on artificial intelligence (AI) on 9 December, first legislative proposition in the world.

From 16 to 22 October 2023, cooperation between the national authorities of 12 EU countries, supported by the European Labour Authority, enabled 196 companies to be audited, 16 construction sites to be inspected, 400 workers to be questioned and various irregularities to be remedied with regard to working conditions in the construction sector.

On 13 December, negotiators from the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement on the proposal for a directive to improve the working conditions and social rights of digital platform workers. In particular, the text aims to ensure the correct classification of their employment status and to introduce rules on algorithmic management and the use of artificial intelligence.

For more than a year, the European social partners have been trying to renegotiate the 2002 framework agreement on telework and get a European directive on the subject. But on 9 November 2002, the employers' organisations BusinessEurope and SME United rejected the compromise text.
