Developed by AFNOR’s Standardization Coordination and Steering Committee, the French standardization strategy for 2025-2030 aims to mobilize a wide range of stakeholders (businesses, public bodies, local authorities, researchers, associations, and citizens) around four priorities:

  • Accelerating the ecological and energy transition, in line with the commitments of the Paris Agreement, the National Low-Carbon Strategy (SNBC), and the European climate neutrality targets for 2050.

  • Supporting digital and technological transformation by integrating cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data, and interoperability issues into an ethical and reliable framework.

  • Promote a fairer, more inclusive, and more resilient society by developing standards that take into account accessibility, diversity, health and safety at work, and balanced regional development.

  • Strengthen French influence by accelerating the production of standards and modernizing the ecosystem.

The chapter on Health and Safety at Work (p.23) places particular emphasis on the arrival of the new Machinery Regulation. This involves a significant effort to adapt and opens up a normative project around AI safety systems integrated into machinery, with a requirement for third-party certification from 2027.
