The European Commission plans to evaluate the implementation of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the level of achievement of the objectives set, in the second half of 2015. This evaluation, over a period of one year, will be performed on the basis of a questionnaire and a study with the stakeholders (including European and national professional organizations and the EU Member States).
The results will be the subject of a report in 2016. Based on this, the Commission will decide whether or not to revise the 2006 Directive. If a revision is decided on, the Directive should be replaced by a Regulation around the end of 2020.
