SWITZERLAND: Suva’s reintegration programme is bearing fruit

Home > The news of EUROGIP and occupational risks in Europe > SWITZERLAND: Suva’s reintegration programme is bearing fruit

Thanks to the “Incentives for Reintegration into the Workplace” programme, Suva opened up new professional opportunities for 78 people who were injured in 2018. In addition, this has enabled it to save more than CHF 21 million on future pensions and thus reduce the amount of premiums. Indeed, Suva must, on average, set aside a capital of CHF 352,000 for each pension granted for life.

The reintegration effort focuses on injured persons who are unable to continue the activity they previously carried out or can only do so with special support from their employer. In addition to certain regulatory conditions, the persons concerned must be motivated to benefit from the programme.

Suva can cover the cost of reintegration up to a maximum of CHF 20,000 for adaptation of the workplace, initiation or training to change jobs or to obtain a new job. In addition, a reward of CHF 20,000 can be granted to the company after successful reintegration.

Since its launch in 2016, this programme has enabled Suva to successfully reintegrate 188 injured people, while saving CHF 52 million on pension benefits.
