ITALY: the effects of the pandemic on the evolution of work-related injuries

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a strong influence on the occupational injury rate in 2020, 2021 and early 2022. Some factors - containment, lower road traffic, massive use of platform workers or slow recovery of activities - have had the side effect of reducing exposure to the risk of “traditional” injuries, including commuting accidents.

BELGIUM: 3 diseases added to the list of occupational diseases

By Royal Decree published on 9 August 2022, these three occupational diseases are added to the Belgian list: ovarian cancer caused by asbestos; uveal melanoma caused by optical radiation from welding; systemic sclerosis caused by inhalation of dust containing crystalline silica.

GERMANY: Almost 230,000 work-related Covid-19 cases since 2020

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the social accident insurances (BG and UK) have received more than 350,000 reports of work-related Covid-19. They have recognized the occupational nature of the pathology in more than 228,600 cases. Since the beginning of 2022, the figures are higher than in 2021.
