Report on working conditions in France in 2023: EUROGIP’s contribution

Home > The news of EUROGIP and occupational risks in Europe > Report on working conditions in France in 2023: EUROGIP’s contribution

Alongside the social partners and prevention organizations, EUROGIP features in the Report of working conditions in 2023, recently published by the French Ministry of Labor. Dedicated to the actions of those involved in occupational risk prevention, this document presents trends in occupational accident rates, as well as the progress made by prevention policies and measures.

Several points of interest concerning EUROGIP and its work are highlighted:

  • Its key role in standardization within the occupational injury and disease branch: EUROGIP coordinates more than 70 experts responsible for drawing up standards and essential rules to ensure that a product meets applicable health and safety requirements. This mission represents a major lever for the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases (OI/OD), while reinforcing the expertise of the OI/OD branch with French, European and international manufacturers, designers and users.
  • An analysis of occupational accident trends in Europe: while the CNAM has noted a significant drop in the number of claims by 2023, EUROGIP data corroborates this trend in Germany, Italy, Spain and Luxembourg, which are experiencing similar dynamics. This finding allows us to look for causes at a global level, such as the slowdown in business or changes in the world of work.
  • Estimates on the phenomenon of under-reporting of accidents at work in Europe: EUROGIP data confirms that levels of reporting of accidents at work vary widely from country to country. Although some discrepancies can be explained by differences in insurance systems, the very wide disparities raise questions about the underlying phenomenon of under-reporting in Europe.
