NETHERLANDS: a new centre for compensation of occupational diseases

The Netherlands is one of the few European countries that abolished (in 1966) the specific system of insurance against occupational accidents and diseases introduced in 1901. However, in September the Dutch government set up a new centre of expertise (LEC-SB) which could be a game changer.

NETHERLANDS: A campaign to encourage employers to assess risks

“Less absenteeism, fewer complaints, more job satisfaction? As an entrepreneur, take the first step towards a healthier and safer working environment for your employees.” This is the slogan of a campaign launched at the end of October by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

FINLAND: increase in work-related accidents in 2021

According to its first forecasts, the Accident Insurance Centre (TVK) estimates the number of accidents at work at 93,000 and commuting accidents at 17,000 in 2021, i.e. an increase of 7% and 6.4% respectively compared to 2020.
